Having just finished the 10 week Next Step's Programme I am feeling grateful and passionate to have had the opportunity to participate in such a worthwhile fitness programme on my road to recovery. The combination of yoga, pilates, steps and relaxation techniques along with a weekly word to inspire and a handout of valuable exercise moves to do at home, has instilled in me a habit and passion to continue to increase my level of fitness. With Becky from Total Physio instructing the programme it was hard not to be enthused. Her positive, affirming manner and genuine care made it a pleasure to be part of Next Steps and I would highly recommend this programme to anyone who is wanting to gain the benefits from increased mobility and fitness following surgery.
I am enjoying the classes, with a great instructor and friendly, fellow participants. Being part of a class encourages you to try harder and achieve more than you think you are capable of doing. I feel confident that I am improving my physical condition by attending these classes.
I have enjoyed the classes. I have found them harder than I thought I would but it's good to be challenged. I particularly enjoyed the class using the weights.
I have found these classes really great. I like the small friendly group, nice warm exercise room, very pleasant instructor who is encouraging and keeps a close eye on every individual, the low impact exercises which suits my arthritis; the exercises are doable at home and it stretches bits that need stretching.
I highly recommend the PINC pilates classes held at Total Physio. I have started attending these classes and the benefits are mind blowing. My surgery was 22 years ago and Becky has been working on my surgery site, freeing up the fascia and scar tissue, and the result have been amazing as far as strength and improvement in my physical state.
I am loving the next steps programme. I had been reluctant to join a group gym class thinking I would not be able to keep up with “able bodied” women. With next steps we are all on a similar journey and take strength in the challenge together. I so appreciate the opportunity to participate in this course and would strongly recommend it to other women to gain strength and confidence during their recovery.
While going through my breast cancer treatment I was always optimistic and positive about each and every moment/experience I went through, knowing I was going to get through it all and come out the other side. Returning to my pre-cancer ‘normal’ life was a bit of a struggle, but I told myself it would get better, and I ploughed on. Then the fatigue set in . . . after months of battling I eventually had to give up work and started to feel frustrated, lost and down. I was unfit, constantly exhausted, putting on weight and slowly spiralling down and didn’t know how to get back. Then I heard of Next Steps. I was so grateful to have the opportunity to take part as I had lost all direction and control and didn’t know how to help myself move on.
Taking part has given me back that control of my body, my emotions and my mindset. I now feel motivated and optimistic again! The physical fitness/activity aspect has given me back my belief in myself and a ‘can do’ attitude, that no matter how small my progress, it is progress, and that is all that matters. The classes are so much fun and it is so good to feel exhausted again in a good way! Megan, our physio and the other ladies are so motivating and I love how the classes are structured with step, pilates and yoga. Meeting the other ladies has been such a pleasure and it is was so nice chatting over lunch about each other’s experiences - talking to people who have gone through such similar journey’s makes you feel you are not so alone and helps put everything into perspective. I would highly recommend the programme to others, and hope that many others get the same opportunity to take part that we have done.
Thank you! A fantastic programme!
Thank you for all the work and serious thought you have put into our weekly sessions.
To be honest, before starting your class I didn't hold much hope for me to be able to be up to scratch fitness wise, to manage the program. It has been a very long time since I have had any motivation or energy to do exercise or go walking, consequently,I have gained weight and become very unfit. To my surprise I have managed to attempt all that you have programmed for us, needless to say not to any great standard but I feel really rejuvenated after our hour session and pleased with myself. I have started to walk along the beach at least 3 times a week now for a hour and hope to build on that.
On Tuesday after our session 6 of us ladies (who didn't know each other before your class) went and had a coffee together. We had a great chin wag and learnt a little about each other of how we have navigated our lives around Breast Cancer. This is something that is very helpful to realize there are many great success stories as well as sad ones which revolve around Breast Cancer.
What a fantastic opportunity The Pinc&Steel Next Step classes have given to me and many Breast Cancer survivors to lead a more happier fitter and happier life thank-you.
